I’m trying out the first VERY early release of Orb Media for OS X, it has worked quite well in the past on Windows so we will get it up and running and put it through some tests.
- Play on computer
- Play on PS3
- Play on iPhone (Local and through Net)
- Play on work computer
Lets see how this goes…
Loading movies into Orb, taking forever… 314/1,455… that’s only my iTunes TV Shows… Still got to to iTunes Movies, reg Movies and reg TV shows…
Added reg TV shows.
PS3 attempt 1: Failure, Orb not running correctly, will check on iPhone…
iPhone: Failure, time to restart orb
Orb restarted
iPhone: Success!!! Watching some video on my iPhone through the local Wireless, will have to try again when I get to work to see how it functions over the Internet.
Added my iTunes movies in only a minute or two… but it took hours to add my regular movies… must be a format thing, m4v vs avi
Added most of my avi files, no trouble, nice.
4/16/09:
Reloaded the file index, opened Orb on my work PC with IE6 and opened a movie (avi) using Windows Media Player with success (quality was sub par)
Opened Orb Live on my iPhone and watched a .mkv of the USA/Mexico WCQ game from Feb. 11th. (Some minor skipping) Orb is using about 75-90% of my server computers processing resources and is uploading video at about 50kb/s.
